Michael Cai finished the World Championship Trials with a Senior Men's club record of 2:05.69 for a 5th place finish in the 200 IM before a CBC National audience. What makes this swim even more impressive than the 3 second drop Michael achieved is that warm ups were canceled half way through due to lightning. Heavy rain followed for an hour while we all huddled under the tarps around the pool. Then the go ahead was given to start the meet and we jumped in quickly to do some pace work and it was off to the race.
Michael had finals in both IM’s and a B final in the 100 Breast.
In other action Kathy Qu set a 17&under Girls club record in the 200 Fly (2:19.33) with her 15th place finish in the B final, Andre Kudaba a B final in the 50 Fly. The girls 4*100 Free relay was impressive as they raced to 2nd in their heat.
We have a small break now and head into the Age Nationals.
