Canadian Record for Drew Christensen on Day 3

It is the third day of competition at the 2008 CN Swimming Trials in Montreal, and as the competition heats up BC athletes continue to produce exceptional results. A new Canadian Record was set by Drew Christensen of the HYACK swim team this morning during heats in the Mens 200m IM Paralympic in the S8 category for Swimmers with a Disability (SWAD). Christensen is the World Record holder in the S8 category for the short course Mens 400m IM. Drew Christensen is entering tonights finals ranked second with a new Canadian record time of 2:38.12.

Joining him is fellow BC athlete Kyle McMahon of the Prince George Barracudas who is entering finals in eighth place.

In the Mens 200m IM Paralympic was Drew Christensen of the HYACK swim club, who set a new Canadian record in his classification this morning, and Kyle McMahon of the Prince George Barracudas. Christensen had a very smooth butterfly leg, displaying a powerful dolphin kick and side breathing. With an amazingly freestyle kick Christensen had a phenomenal second place finish, breaking the Canadian record again by another three seconds and a final time of 2:35.57. Between prelims and finals Drew Christensen took ten seconds off the Canadian record in the S8 category. Kyle McMahon from Prince George kept a steady pace on the freestyle leg, to improve on his morning time by four seconds and an eighth place finish with 3:33.77.
